Biography

I am a Computer Science researcher and AI practitioner with expertise in computer vision, multimodal models, natural language processing, reinforcement learning, and responsible AI. My research focuses on developing impactful machine learning systems for healthcare, agriculture, and education, with particular emphasis on real-world deployment in developing countries.

Currently, I work as a Visual AI Visiting Researcher at Bielefeld University under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Helge Rhodin, where I advance research in 3D modelling, robotics, and AR/XR technologies. I am also a Google DeepMind Scholar, a recognition that honors academic excellence and commitment to transformative AI education.

My research journey has taken me through various prestigious institutions including the Marconi Society Machine Learning Laboratory and Makerere AI Lab, where I contributed to cutting-edge AI research in the African context. As a Lead ML Engineer at Omdena, I led global teams in building AI solutions for social good, managing international projects with focus on collaboration and innovative applications.

I hold an M.Sc. in Computer Science and a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Makerere University, where I also served as a Teaching Assistant and Research Scientist. Beyond research, I co-founded DMB Translation Services Ltd and provide strategic AI consulting to organizations on productivity and implementation.

I have authored 20+ peer-reviewed publications spanning explainable AI, multimodal learning, medical imaging, and agricultural technology. My work emphasizes practical applications of AI in developing countries, with particular focus on interpretable machine learning and responsible AI deployment.

I am committed to fostering the next generation of AI talent through mentoring and community leadership. As the former Uganda Chapter Lead for Omdena, I founded and scaled AI4GOOD communities across East Africa, organizing workshops and building leadership frameworks for emerging AI practitioners.
